Update: Social Media Changes

A new website and some new social media handles.

Hi all. So it’s been a while. Rest assured I’ve been staying busy, doing some house cleaning on this podcast, getting ready for the Water Margin Podcast, and getting into some other stuff. I might post a short update to the podcast feed in a couple months.

For now, though, I want to let you know of a few changes. They are all related to getting ready to launch a second podcast. When I started the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Podcast, it didn’t really occur to me that I might enjoy it so much and find such an enthusiastic audience that I would want to do more podcasts in the same vein, so all the social media accounts were branded specifically to the Three Kingdoms Podcast. Now that I’m launching a second podcast (and who knows, maybe even a third or fourth in the distant future), I don’t want to have to manage a separate set of social media accounts for every podcast. So, I’ve made some changes. Here’s the deal:

  • Website: I’ve created a new website: chineselore.com. It’s a simple umbrella site describing my podcasting efforts and linking to the podcasts. Each podcast will still have its own site, so 3kingdomspodcast.com will remain up, and the Water Margin Podcast, when it launches, will be at outlawsofthemarsh.com.
  • Twitter: My old Twitter handle (@ro3kpodcast) is no more, replaced by a new one: @chineselore. It’s the same account and feed, so all the old content is still there. I just changed the name.
  • Facebook: The Facebook page for the Three Kingdoms Podcast remains and will stay up, but when I start posting regularly again, it’s going to be on a new Facebook page: Chinese Lore Podcasts. Facebook is not smart enough to let me just rename the existing page, hence the need to create a new one. Go to the new page and follow it now. I’ll still check in on the old Three Kingdoms Podcast page from time to time, but the new page is where the action will be at.
  • Instagram: I’ve created an Instagram account, @chineselorepodcasts. You’ll notice that there isn’t any content there right now. I’m still figuring out how to use Instagram to complement the podcasts. It may work out, or it may not, but follow it if you want.

That’s it for now. Stay tuned for more updates.

  1. Thanks for the update. Looking forward to The Water Margin. Please send another update when RSS feeds for the new podcast are enabled.

  2. Hello. I’m Japanese and a Chinese literature lover. I happened to find your podcast. It’s very very good. I started to listen to your podcast programs. Now until episode 16. I’ll listen to all episodes. I drive a long time every day. Your podcast makes driving happier.
If you create Water Margin, it’s great!! I’m really looking forward to it as well.

  3. Thank you for the 3kingdomspodcast! I’m currently at episode 58, and looking forward to the rest.
I have some questions I hope you can answer:

    1. What is the instrument playing the intro and exit music of each episode?

    2. It seems you aren’t really a mystic or sage unless you’re issued a staff made of the goose-foot plant. Why goose-foot? (None of my searches has turned up any information on the uses or cultural significance for this plant.)

    3. SOOOO much crying! As Hilary Swank can tell you “Boys Don’t Cry.” I can’t imagine John Wayne, Clint Eastwood or Toshiro Mifune weeping. Can you shed light on this copious lacrimation, it’s significance in Han culture, and if the same holds true in Chinese culture today?

Again, I thank you for your inspiring work! It makes following my Moss Roberts (unabridged) much easier. I hope to get to your “Water Margin” after I finish “Romance.”

    Best Regards
